My goal is to help you love the person in the mirror. For whatever reason, people, situations, and environments do a number on our psyches, and we have to actively counter the negative influences – or the negative reactions to any influences – that we experience every day. This is especially important in a “plugged in” world. It seems like there is always someone ready to cut us down just because they can. It takes a lot of self-confidence and inner peace to counter all the negativity in today’s world.
Individuals (because we are individuals) find peace in individual ways, whether that’s through prayer, meditation, quiet walks in the woods, reading inspiring works, watching, learning, playing with children, meeting with friends, teaching, or creating. The programs and books on this site are just one piece of the puzzle to help you develop physical self-confidence, and maybe some inner peace, so that you can continue your journey to love the person in the mirror.
Why listen to me?
I have spent over 30 years in the fitness industry. Before that, I was a competitive figure skater and dancer (years of ballet, jazz, Middle Eastern dance, modern dance, Spanish dance, and three years toward a BFA). All of this training has given me a somewhat unique approach to fitness, heavily influenced by the meticulous nature of barre exercises mixed with sports psychology and visualization techniques that were popularized in the 80s when I was a competitive athlete.
I am a fitness trainer, coach, author, and videographer who has taught figure skating (freestyle, MIF, and ice dancing), dance, off-ice training, gymnastics (assistant coach), aerobics, stretching, and strength training.
A great coach is constantly learning, and I love to study and learn. In addition to my interests in fitness and nutrition, I am also learning through documentary creation (film is a learning experience all by itself), where I get to research and interview people on a variety of topics, and through my current spiritual studies with the International Metaphysical Ministries. I hold a BA in Business Management and have studied at Bard College, Rutgers University, Ashford University, International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), and numerous certification organizations in fitness, nutrition, and figure skating.
I live with my husband, John Elden Gibbons, and family in northern New York on our homestead-and-vineyard-in-progress.
